Introducing Golem

September 1, 2026

Today, I’m excited to share our first product: Golem, the last AI you’ll ever need.

Golem is a personal AI assistant that grows with you and is fully open and extensible. Our goal is to advance the idea of open intelligence and bring more choice to the AI landscape.

Looking at the way AI is currently implemented leaves a lot to be desired. Right now, AI is mostly a “feature,” something that lives in a sidebar or a widget. The result is that each AI knows how to do very little, and even less about what’s actually important to you.

Instead of interacting with five neutered AIs over the course of a day, Golem is meant to be your one AI. It meets you where you are, bringing with it an understanding of who you are, what matters to you, and how you like to work.

To make that possible, Golem is fully open and extensible. Extensions let you shape Golem into whatever you want it to be. That might mean adding a new way to talk with Golem, connecting it to a niche web app, or giving it an entirely new capability.

But with great power comes great responsibility. For us, that means keeping Golem open and putting you in control. You can choose the model you want to use, self-host Golem, and keep your data in standard formats so it’s never locked away from you.

Golem is still very much in its early days. There’s a lot left to build, and we’re excited to see what Golem can become.

This is our first step toward a future of open intelligence.
