About Terracotta

Terracotta is a software company exploring what becomes possible when AI is treated as a new medium, not just another feature.

We believe intelligence should expand what people are capable of: helping individuals create, learn, work, and act with greater agency.

We’re starting with Golem, a personal AI agent built around continuity, adaptability, and ownership.

Open intelligence

As intelligence becomes a fundamental part of software, the people using it should have a say in how it works.

We believe people should be able to choose the models they rely on, extend the systems they use, move between providers, and retain control over the intelligence that becomes part of their lives.

To us, open intelligence means intelligence that can be accessed, shaped, extended, and owned by the people who use it.

About the founder

Nawaz Gafar is a software engineer who has spent his career at early-stage startups, working across engineering and customer success.

Most recently, he was a founding engineer at Mito Labs (YC20), where he helped build an AI agent for code generation and data analysis.

He also maintains several open-source projects, including llama-scan, a tool for transcribing PDFs with local language models, and cbxy, an open file format for digital comics.

For the advancement of open intelligence.

We’re building toward a future where intelligence expands what people are capable of—and remains open, adaptable, and ours to shape.
